The Simulated Person Methodology Lab utilizes human simulators to replicate real workplace issues. Our lab supports research in experiential education through the evaluation and implementation of simulated persons as a pedagogical methodology across academic and pan university context. The lab also provides services and consultation to external partners.


Prescribing VR | Website

Our team is currently evaluating VR’s usability, safety and clinical effectiveness for people with various health conditions and in different healthcare settings. Examples include people living with dementia or other cognitive impairment, people suffering from mental health and addictions, the chronically ill or in palliative care, patients undergoing radiation treatment, and those in the intensive care unit. 


Sim Beyond Walls | Website

Sim Beyond Walls provides resources on topics and issues related to best practices in design, testing, implementation, and evaluation of simulation education content.  Sim beyond walls is also a virtual space that uses the power of online and social media technology to enable health professions students and faculty to connect in ways beyond a Simulation Center at their respective institutions.

Through active research partnerships with hospitals, professional societies, governing bodies, entrepreneurs, and simulation industry, our dedicated team works diligently on a spectrum of activities from mapping needs, to changing educational systems, to providing services and products, to improving learning and performance outcomes. With advanced 3D modelling, additive manufacturing, extended reality and gaming capabilities, we strive to advance simulation training within Ontario, Canada and the rest of the world.

Makerspace | Website

The AMPD Pan-Faculty Makerspace is a new facility of the School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design currently in development. The facility will launch during Summer, 2019.

The Makerspace will serve to improve student access to digital fabrication tools and support the integration of these technologies into current and upcoming AMPD programs. Being available to all students and educators of the faculty, the Makerspace will also provide a centralized workspace for technological experimentation and cross-disciplinary art making.


Michael Garron Hospital | Website

MGH has been proudly serving the community of east Toronto since 1929. During that time the hospital has continually renewed its commitment to the community it serves. Today, MGH is a large, urban, full-service community teaching hospital, providing comprehensive care to a diverse population of 400,000 living within its primary catchment area, from Midland Avenue in the east to Bayview Avenue in the west and north from Lake Ontario to Eglinton Avenue.

 


The Open University of Israel | Website

The Research Center for Innovation in Learning Technologies serves as the research division of the Open University for exploring emerging technologies and developing models and strategies for their integration in learning. The studies conducted in the Research Center address different aspects of learning technologies and their applications. The Center is composed of a consortium of about fifty faculty members from various Open University departments. The Center conducts a wide variety of academic activities such as symposia, workshops, conferences and research seminars. The Research Center for Innovation in Learning Technologies was founded in 2010, replacing the Chais Research Center for the Integration of Technologies in Education, which was active from 2004.
